| Established in 1991, Art From the Streets (AFTS) is a volunteer-driven program that provides a safe and encouraging environment in which Austin’s homeless can exhibit their artistic skills. Every year AFTS hosts a Show & Sale event that allows the artists to interact with the people of Austin and through the sales of their art, to raise funds to pay for necessities such as food, clothing and housing.
In 2005 AFTS established goals of raising awareness around the cause, and exceeding the previous year’s sales.
We organized a complete pro-bono, integrated marketing campaign that included new creative, Web development, public relations, and direct marketing services. We positioned AFTS’s story in nearly all local print, online, and broadcast outlets. The two-day Show and Sale event drew more than 1,500 people, featured more than 2,000 pieces of artwork from 100 participating homeless and formerly homeless artists, and raised more than $80,000 through sales and donationsexceeding the previous year’s proceeds by $20,000. The AFTS campaign won a 2006 Silver ADDY Award and a President's Impact Award for Public Service.
