BuzzPR was the next logical step for Dana Marruffo, who’s been successfully promoting individuals and launching and branding companies and their products for over ten years.

In her role at PetersGroup Public Relations, Marruffo managed both Sony Ericsson Developer World and ENCIRQ Corporation and was instrumental in positioning both as leaders in their highly competitive markets.

Prior to that, Marruffo was PR Manager for AlterPoint, Inc. where she took the company through a series of funding announcements and successful major product launches. She positioned the company as an award-winning key player in its market within twelve months by integrating the product launches into a strategic marketing and PR campaign consisting of education and market-validation communication.

In 2000, Marruffo joined SocketPR (currently Blanc & Otus) managing Motive Communications, Wily Technology, Burton Group, 2ndWave, VCON, NFIB, Welcom, Austin Technology Council and NetWorker, Inc. She positioned over half her client base as top market players by influencing the media/analyst community to track the very trends her clients were setting, resulting in extensive media coverage and analyst reports.

Marruffo began her career in the publishing industry as an assistant editor, writing for national computer-aided design magazines CADENCE and MicroCAD News, as well as for a variety of national association publications. In her role as promotions assistant for Austin radio conglomerate LBJS Broadcasting she worked on an array of local events, festivals and concerts before joining Arista Records’ Austin label, Arista Texas, as a publicist promoting artists such as Robert Earl Keen, Sister 7 and Abra Moore.

In 1996, Marruffo moved to Los Angeles to work for RPR & Associates as a talent publicist for health guru/author Susan Powter; arts and crafts expert/author Sandra Lee (dubbed the next generation’s Martha Stewart); motivational speaker/author Ella Patterson (bestseller, Will The Real Women Please Stand Up!); and Spencer Johnson (New York Times bestseller, Who Moved My Cheese?) Marruffo then became a publicist and producer for On The Scene Productions, an electronic publicity and production company. Clients included major record labels (Warner Bros., Universal Music Group, Arista Records, Atlantic Records), powerhouse publishing companies (Simon & Schuster, HarperCollins, Prentice Hall, Chronicle Books, Readers Digest), television studios and movie production companies. She also worked on high-profile events and movie premieres alongside myriad celebrities, authors and musicians, producing electronic media packages, video highlights, electronic press kits and video news releases.

Marruffo has a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism with a specialization in Public Relations from the University of Texas at Austin. She sits on the Board of Directors for the Austin Advertising Federation; is a 2006 ADDY Award recipient for the Art From The Streets campaign; is a founding member of the Association For Women In Technology Austin; is an acting member of the Race For the Cure and Arts From The Streets Communications Committee; and regularly volunteers with The Settlement Home, Capital Area Food Bank, The Salvation Army, Texas Food and Wine Festival, and South by Southwest.
